- "Make a love time capsule together. Write a love letter to him that he doesn't read for 10 years-ish years" - Holly
- "I'd start sticking little love hearts or sticky notes in his stuff for him to find randomly. Since he travels a lot, I'd put one in his shoes, in his pant pocket, in the glove compartment of his car, in his toiletries just so he knows you're thinking of him. You could even include some of his favorite treats to go along with it. Sometimes it's the little things that go a long way, you know?" - Jami
- "For Valentine's Day, I gave [my husband] a new photo frame with new pictures of all of us to take to work and put on his desk. It's his first pictures of us to take to his new job. I don't know if [your husband] would appreciate that as much since he's on the go a lot, but maybe a cute collage or set of pictures he can take with him, or put in his car." - Ashleigh
Really great ideas, ladies! I love how Holly's idea is declaring that your love will stand the test of time in a tangible way. Jami's idea is the kind of thing I love to recieve...the kind of gift that doesn't cost a lot of money and shows that someone has really spent a lot of time thinking about you. And Ashleigh's idea reminded me of some things I had been thinking about doing (I just need to decide if it should be portable or not).
And they got me thinking of a couple of things I have done in the past:
- "Heart attacks"-- I put hearts on the walls by my children's beds while they were sleeping and all over the bathroom mirror for my husband. To make it more meaningful, I wrote something I love about that person on each heart. (That is always a good exercise to remember why we love these people!)
- I made a small scrapbook for my dh with lots of pictures of us and of me. I used lots of romantic quotes throughout, since he is a big believer in the power of language.
If anyone else has anyother suggestions, please leave a comment and we will keep this for future reference when we all need ideas!
