Cute Cakes for kids--with Layers!

I love cute birthday cakes--they can really become the focal point of a party, so I have a couple more I've been wanting to share.
This first one was made by Laura at Brilliant Blossoms (she's pretty crazy about a lot of different things, like me!) for our cousins, Kaj and Kade and their awesome carnival-themed birthday party (they had a magician and all!) She made this cute layered cake with bright colored frosting. The cone on the top is made from paper and then frosted. The circles, stars and stripes are all made from fruit roll-ups! And the colorful balls are candy (can't remember the name of the candy at the moment--can anyone help me out?). I really liked the choice of candles, too! She made a small, matching, single-layer cake for Kade (who was turning one), to dig into.

Another layer cake, made by another one of my sisters, Trina. I tell you we are all crazy! She's the one that originally made this monkey cake. This cake isn't just cute, it has special meaning. It was for the LDS baptism of a friend's daughter. There is a primary song about rainbows and baptism and she piped the lyrics to that song in pink on the top layer. She used bright colored fondant for the rainbow, flowers (I love how 3D they are!), and the sun. I love the piping technique she used/created for the clouds. (Click for a closer view). I may have to steal the rainbow idea for when my daughter gets baptized, next year. I had a different direction in mind, but my dd loves rainbows, and the song makes it so perfect!
