Like this, for example. This is my music room where I will be teaching voice lessons this fall. It became necessary for some unnamed reason (like the need to play computer games on-line with his buddies and not wake-up the rest of the house at night), to put a computer in this room. I was a little panicked at the thought. Have you seen how many ugly computer desks there are out there? So I started looking around to see what I could live with in there that wouldn't be a major investment. (We do share the value of frugality!) We decided to head to IKEA, thinking that would be our least expensive option. That is where he found this...
At $34.99, the price was certainly right, but I just couldn't go for it in that room. My idea of compromise was to get the dark table top (of the same VIKA line) and put on these cool legs.
The combo (as pictured above) ran about $60--much less than any decent options I had seen at Wal-mart or Target, and still has style! I am actually quite in love with these legs. They are kind of that fun bridge between modern and classic styling. DH still isn't quite sure. In his "unqualified opinion" they are a little "over-the-top." What do you think?
I see so many blogs that talk about Ikea and I've looked at the things they carry through their website but I've never had the priveledge of going into one of their stores. You've got me wanting to venture into one...but the nearest one is over 2 hours away.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for the table, btw!
Oh, and I adore the new layout...nice!
You think YOUR hubby is bad? Mine had to pull his microscope (YES... a MICROSCOPE) out of the closet (plastic covering and all) and display it in our sunroom b/c he had paid money for it (in 1996 or so...) Wanna trade hubbies??? (P.S. Mine also planted a cornfield in the back yard. Lovely!)
ReplyDeleteRenee :)
I didn't realize that legs were interchangeable! That turned out pretty cute. Can ya paint it? I love to paint all things!
ReplyDeleteI think the legs look great. Tell your husband that the legs you choose are not over the top. The over the top legs were the more expsensive ones. :)
