It's Auction Time! (MONDAY ONLY!)

It's time for the Great Cookie Auction, benefiting plane crash victims, Stephanie (Nie Nie) & Christian Nielson. Bidding begins at 8:00am (Arizona time-which is the same as Pacific Time, right now, I believe) Monday, Sept. 22, over at this website. For more on why I am participating, click here. For more about the reason for the auction, click here.

Up for auction (#55):
Barry's Massive Mouth-watering Molasses Cookies (1 dozen)

He was going to write up a description, but then I would have never completed this post on time. Let me just say that they are really good! They are huge, chewy, spiced molasses cookies, made by my meticulous husband.

I really wasn't exaggerating when I said he was a perfectionist in the kitchen. He made a test batch tonight, and peered into the oven for minutes at a time to make sure the cookies were forming their signature cracks.

Or maybe he was just guarding the cookies from his two apprentices!
Go here to bid now! You won't be disappointed!

Up for auction (#56):
Hand-Painted Halloween Butter Cookies (1 dozen)

So, I'm not quite as much of a perfectionist about the baking part as Barry, so I don't have any test-run pictures to post. But those are the Pottery Barn Halloween cookie cutters I will be using, and here is a Christmas Version of the cookies I am making:

Yes, I know it is kind of insane, but if you win this auction, you will get 12 insanely hand-painted Halloween cookies. Each cookie will be a work of art and will likely take me a ridiculous amount of time to paint. The cookies feature an almond flavored royal icing over a crisp, but still chewy butter cookie. They taste delicious, if you can bring yourself to eat them!

Bidding Directions from Landra:
All cookies will be listed on a form at my blog, http://xomissl2.blogspot.com Each bidder will fill out the form and it will be emailed to me. I, and my team of helpers, will be updating the posting as the bids come in.All bidding starts at EIGHT AM Arizona time and ends at NINE PM Arizona time. Bidders will be notified by email what goodies they won, and the final price. Bidders then need to send funds via Paypal straight to Nie, and forward the receipt and mailing address to me. I will then pass along the information to the baker, who will mail the cookies.

A few more items of business:
  • Although you will place your bid at Landra's site, I would appreciate it, if you would leave a comment here, as well, so we can keep current on the bidding.
  • I believe all cookie auctions are to start at $20, because this is for such a great cause. Barry & I will do everything we can to make sure you get your money's worth!
  • Keep location in mind when bidding. We are located in AZ, so the further away you are, the greater the risk when it comes to freshness or shipping damage.
  • If you win one of our auctions, please let us know the time frame in which you would like to receive your cookies. (i.e. asap, whenever, October closer to Halloween, etc.) No guarantees on shipping date, but we aim to please!
  • If neither of these cookies are your cup of tea, check out all of the other cookies available on Landra's site. With nearly 100 cookie auctions, you are bound to find something to tempt your taste buds!
  • Leave a comment if you have any questions!
