Spray Paint Party!

I'm just getting back into this after 4 days out of town, so there will be a lot of posts over the next few days as I try and catch up. I had to get in on Thrifty Decor Chick's Spray Painting party today (I designed her party button, after all). So here is a quick post on a quick project I did last week.

My MIL gave me this brass lamp she doesn't need any more. (Notice my husband's square foot garden in the background?--I'm trying to get him to do a guest post for me.) I'm not a huge fan of brass these days, so I pulled out some spray paint (Rust-oleum American Accents Metallic line in Oil Rubbed Bronze) that we had on hand and changed it to this:

I wish I could have gotten a picture with out the flash. It is very dark (mostly black), but I love the metallic finish it has. It doesn't look at all like it was painted, except that the cord is still gold. I still have some experimenting to do with the shade, but that will require a trip to the store. So I will save that for another post. I didn't do much, except clean the post well with alcohol before applying the spray paint. It looks like it will hold up just fine. But some paints may need some sanding first, to work well.

Go to Thrifty Decor Chick's Party for lots more spray paint inspiration. It is amazing what can be done! And if you are here visiting from TDC, please come back next week for my party!
And at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I would love your vote for my Lucky Leprechaun Cake over at Gourmet Mom on the Go. I can't seem to pull out of second place, and you don't get the cool prize from cookware.com if you come in 2nd. :-( So, I would love your vote if you get a chance!

  2. How fun!!! What would we do without spray paint? I would probably never do any projects because I'm too impatient to actually paint anything!!!

    Good job!

  11. All these spray paint projects. Makes me feel like I need to go out and buy some black and some oil rubbed bronze paint. There's got to be something in this house I can paint!
