School Carnival Cuteness

So the "miracle workers" are still here, and I really don't have much time for blogging, but I needed a break from paint fumes, so I thought I would share a quick post. This isn't about what we have been working on (just wait until I show you the bedskirts my mom just made for my girls' beds! *swoon*). I have to finish miracle worker week (and a half), before I am ready to report on it.

But my daughter's school is having a Spring Carnival soon, and of course, my brain started working on ways to make it cute and memorable. Interestingly enough, I told my friend, the PTA President, that I was willing to help on anything cute or creative for the Carnival and she was going to give my number to the heads of those committees. Should I worry that I have never heard anything from anyone and was actually locked out of the last PTA meeting? (I was 20 mins. late.) Maybe they are a little afraid of what insanity I might suggest. At any rate, here are some of the ideas I think would be adorable at a school carnival, or any carnival-type celebration. (And now the PTA will know whether they want to let me be involved, or not. :-))

This card, found at How About Orange, might be a ton of work for a birthday, but wouldn't it be stunning on posters around the school, advertising the carnival. Information could be printed in a circus font on large posters, wrapped in bunting.
And for flyers to send home, we could copy the red ticket idea (credit armelle blog). Budget may not allow for the balloon, or even the time to cut out the tickets, but red paper and a cute design, could go a long way in getting everyone's attention.
At the event, I'd love to see tons of bunting made of colorful fabrics defining and decorating the area. (photo credit: Bliss Bloom Blog)
I think these PVC poles from Kara's Party Ideas, go a long way to give the Carnival feel. They could hold up the bunting? They are just 6 ft. lengths of PVC pipe wrapped in ribbon. Of course the balloons and other decorations look great, too.

I think it would be really cute, to make coordinating signs for each of the booths and have them printed (red and white stripes with circus font lettering), and smaller ones for the food available at the concession stand.

And we need photo booths! The painted canvases where you can stick your faces are always fun, but I love these photo booths, with the clown noses I've seen lately.

And they don't look very expensive or hard to do. Just a fun fabric backdrop and a clown's nose (and some one who knows how to take a nice photograph!)

So what is the verdict? Too complicated for a large school event? Or fun and fresh? I'm sure I could come up with lots more crazy ideas...if the PTA hasn't conveniently lost my contact info. :-)

  3. I'm on the Posters/Communication committee. I did a huge poster (no where near as cute as any as your ideas), however, I am sure you can add to it. You'll have to come by and see it or I'll take a picture and email it to you. Love the ideas!
