Spray Paint Project Flashback--Bottle Rocket birthday

You know I love the weekly CSI project challenges!  This week's theme is spray paint and the winner actually gets a spray paint package from Krylon!  Competition is fierce, because really, who in blogland hasn't spruced up a boring picture frame with a can of paint or made over a tacky chair?  I actually have a few projects on the docket that would require some spraying of paint, but they ain't gonna happen this week.  (I never say "ain't!"  This should show how tired I am right now).  I teach music classes for kids and tomorrow is my first day of class, so all of my non-breastfeeding time is going toward getting my materials, lessons, and house ready for class!

BUT, I still want to share a couple of spray painting projects with you, so I am going to quickly revisit some of  the ways I have used spray paint in party preparations.  Yes, spray paint isn't just for home decor!  First up...

Bottle Rockets!

When my son turned 4, my husband and I made a bunch of rockets out of 2 liter soda pop bottles.  We added nose cones and cardboard fins, and then spray painted the entire thing red or blue.  The kids then added stickers and electricians tape to decorate their rockets before we launched them...

These things really got some air!  For all of the details on the rockets and launch go here.  To see all the rest of the rocket madness from his birthday, go here.

It was nice not to have to be too perfectionistic about this project because we knew that these weren't going to last a long time.
What goes up must come down...much to the chagrin of my son and his crumpled nose cone.
