Back to School Haircuts--GIVEAWAY!

It's true! My kids are back at school this morning! Last week was a whirl of unpacking, Doctor and dentist appointments, meeting the teachers, and shopping and getting haircuts so they would be presentable in class.
The folks over at Cool Cuts 4 Kids were kind enough to send me a gift card to try out their services. I often cut the kids' hair myself to save money, except for when it needs some serious intervention (like Tessa's close shave experience). But to be honest, it isn't my favorite thing to do. How do you get a one-year old to sit still? And my big boy always complains of being itchy. He won't sit still either.

That's the genius behind Cool Cuts 4 kids! They know how to keep kids entertained so they can do their hair. Seriously, I think my kids were more sedated here than they've been with drugs at the dentist office. :-) They know how to interact with the kids on their level, and make the whole experience a lot of fun!
We started with the sweaty baby. He needed a haircut for sure! But I was anxious to see if they could really get him to sit still.
Between the awesome firetruck seat and Elmo on the TV he was perfectly happy to sit still.
 Whoa, Dude!

 I'd say that's a big Improvement!
Next was Princess Tessa, who wasn't so sure she wanted a haircut (this girl had recently tried to glue yarn to her hair so she could have Rapunzel hair), but the layers from her cute, stacked haircut were growing out kind of crazy, and her long bangs were always in her face.

She got the princess treatment with a shampoo, flower (like Rapunzel), and glitter in her hair (no extra charge).
She was thrilled to get to watch Dora while they worked on her!
I think she rocks the bangs.
This guy should really make infomercials. He's trying to show you how miserable he is for his before shot. I kind of like his hair long, but he gets teased that he's doing the Justin Bieber do when it gets that length (although, chicks dig it), so was more than ready for a fun short do.
This is my kid that can't handle the itchies. Notice how they wrap the tissue around the neck, as well as the cape. I didn't hear any complaints.
The hardest part about the experience with him was prying him away from the video games when it was time to go. He's loving his spiky hair-do! Time to get some gel!
We had a great time at Cool Cutz 4 kids! If you have squirmy kids, this might be right up your alley! And if you are budget conscious, like me, grab this coupon for $5.00 off any service! They also have a rewards club that can make it even more affordable. Find a location near you here!

  1. What am I doing to get ready? Well, since school already started, I'm just trying to keep sane with the homework load they're bringing home! So... to help me help them, I have set up a station at the end of a table where the kids are to put their homework when they are done, along with any and all papers I need to sign or see. I separated their spaces with the ever-useful painter's tape, since my junior high kid has so much work in so many notebooks that putting it in the hanging slotted basket is now a thing of the past. This way, with just a glance, I can know who is done with their work, and who has yet to complete it. :)

  3. I bought a new bookshelf, hit the homeschool convention and filled up the new bookshelf, and now we are just about ready for "back to school". Haircuts are still on the list though, and I have 3 itchy boys...

And I already "like" you, on facebook and everywhere else!

  4. OK Miss Kendra...I am teaching my kiddos at home this year but since they are preschool age I am not sure it counts. I have been busy researching and collecting ideas on themes and Montessori ideas that I want to implement. As soon as I get my new school shelves I will be doing some major organizing.

  7. We love Cool Cuts! I am getting ready for back to school by getting my classroom set up! I teach fourth grade and my 10 year old is a trooper of a helper (in a school that only turns on the air two mornings per week before school starts, and we're on day 31 of 100+ temps!). I'd love to get her all styled up before we start back!
