Costume Shopping & Halloween Prep at Kmart's 50 ft Party

I haven't come clean yet about our family costumes for this year, yet, but I'm thinking by the end of this post, you may well have figured out what we are doing. I've rounded up most of the pieces of our costumes, but still needed a few details, so when the opportunity came up to do a little Halloween Costume shopping at Kmart, it sounded like a great idea (even with 4 kids in tow). FYI they have some great on-line deals going on right now:
I honestly haven't been to Kmart for quite a while, so I wasn't sure what I would find there.
It was fun to see the festive displays from the moment we walked in the door. I will say we might be a little ADD and certainly didn't limit our shopping trip to the costume aisle. In fact, we were all over the place. If you want to see it all, check out my album on Google +!

These cute kids outfits, weren't really costumes but could be used as them. Really cute!
And I had to post these cute pumpkins for all of my friends who love Disneyland @ Halloween. If you can't make it this year--try Kmart instead. :-)

No. These props did not make it home with us, but they sure had a good time playing with them! Why is it that my son can locate every sword with in a mile radius? This sword has fake blood that moves around the sword while you wield it. Ewww! And I have never seen my beautiful girl look so horrible before.

But it wasn't all gore and guts. There were some pretty clever costumes, too. My daughter loved the crayon costumes. And the Golden Ticket costume won points for creativity (although looked like a size that should be marketed to a child rather than grown women.) Could be a really fun idea with Willy Wonka as a date!

This lion costume would have probably come home with us (in a different size) if we hadn't recently acquired a similar one (*costume clue*).

We had to make a stop in the snack aisle for some goodies for a BBQ and I found these. They are mini-sizes and I know all of my party-planning friends would want to know about them. Perfect for a monster party!

I was excited to find these large spider webs for just a few dollars/each. I was going to construct a giant spider web for my front porch, but why start from scratch when these are so affordable.
I made BSB string it up for me!
I looks even better than it photographs!
If you follow me on Pinterest, you know I have a bit of a thing for Candy Corn, so we couldn't pass these up.

My Halloween display was a bit vacant before.
I'll be blogging the rest of this vignette soon!

In the meantime, let's get back to why we went shopping in the first place. I brought these home for my costume...
Or I might use the tights to do this.

Have I given you enough clues to guess our family theme this year? Bonus points if you can guess the correct casting! Thanks Kmart and Collective Bias for some more Halloween fun!

  1. Hmm, I'm thinking Dorothy and the wizard of Oz? Fun trip, you don't see many Kmarts around anymore.

  2. If you're doing Wizard of Oz, it really is true that we're leading double lives. That's what our kids are doing too!! With Audrey as Dorothy, Alek as the Lion, Aidan as the scarecrow and Arlan as the Tin Man. For your crew, I would guess your oldest as the Scarecrow, next as the Tin Man, Tessa as Dorothy, baby Alec as the lion, you're the wicked witch and BSB as the Wizard. :)

  6. Yep Wizard of Oz. I am guessing your youngest daughter for Dorothy, your oldest for Glinda the good witch, your oldest son as the tin man, you as the wicked witch, your hubby as the Wizard of Oz and the baby as the lion. But I am not sure, there are many configurations possible!! How fun...I am excited about ours this year!
