Do your kids have dress-up days at school? Like Spirit Week or the like? Mine have had a series of them lately, and while they are fun, they have complicated the getting ready for school procedure.
This is dress up like your favorite character from a book day:
Can you tell what famous red-head she's supposed to be?
Look a little closer....
Can you see the resemblance? Yes. She's Anne of Green Gables (holding Jane Austen because Anne loved to read).
His character was a little more obscure. I won't make you try and guess.
He's a character named been from an LDS childrens' fiction book called Knights of Right (I haven't even made it through one of the books myself yet to tell you if I recommend them or not, but he is excited about them).
Today was Career Day...
Can you tell what they are each supposed to be?
Yes. He is a scientist. And probably would have been able to pull off the "mad" part of scientist better if we hadn't buzzed his hair to match his friend for twin day. (He was being accused of having Bieber hair, and it was embarrassing him. I kind of miss the tousled red hair).
And she is a mom, complete with apron, cell phone and baby in sling. I have mixed feelings about her choice here. I'm really honored that she would want to be a mom (except that her initial costume idea involved wearing a nightgown. Seriously). I also have to admit, that I have my suspicions that her desires stem less from an advanced maternal instinct than they do from being a control freak and she has the mistaken notion that when she is the mom she will get all of the control. But truly, I am glad that my brilliant little girl sees motherhood as a worthwhile goal! I'm sure she will have lots of other good goals, too, but I'm glad that this one is at the top of her list!
I didn't get pictures of crazy hair day or twin day (which could have also been crazy hair day). What end of the school year craziness has been going on in your world? (We're going to be talking about that kind of stuff on the next MomTime TV radio show, next week).
I will still finish the Spa Day birthday party report, but bear with me. I'm in the middle of another Miracle Worker Week. It's kind of like Home Improvement/Organization Boot Camp. Keeping up with my mother is wearing me out. But we are taking lots of pictures so I can share my projects with you soon! I will also be re-posting some of my favorite Father's Day Posts from the past, so you can start thinking about what to do for the men in your world. I'd love to see your great ideas, too!
He was one of the children asked to read about their super Earth Day heroes they created. Those are his vine vision goggles. They shoot vines to capture villains who are polluting the earth.
Awesome--I just grinned through the whole thing! This was a great last blog for me to read before making myself head off to bed :)
ReplyDelete(not sure which made me laugh out loud more--Kendra's initial mom costume involving a nightgown or Trenton's cool poses. Your kids are fun!)
Love your post! Plant Man is so adorable...I mean COOL!
ReplyDeleteI knew she was Anne of Green Gables! One of my favorite books! Seriously, love it!!! How sweet are all these costumes!? You totally rock!!!
