Spa Day Birthday Party -- Nail Polish Invitations

It's about time I share the pictures from my daughter's Perfect 10 Day Spa Birthday party, a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to have to break it down into small parts (since there were so many details) if I am going to get through it, though! We'll start with the invitations today!

If you haven't noticed, I like invitations that are somewhat 3D (robot, Nancy Drew book, rocket, etc.). This time we went with sparkley nail-polish bottle invitations that have a lid that can be taken off.

I cut the basic bottle shape out of folded card-stock. A corner-rounder helped make my basic shape look a little more professional. The fold is at the bottom and then I used glue dots to seal up the sides.

I designed the label to resemble O.P.I brand nail polish. It took a little bit to figure out how to get all of the necessary info on the label and still make it look like a label instead of a wordy invitation. I decided to name the day spa, "Perfect 10" since she was turning 10. (Fonts used here are Wendy Medium and Tw Cen MT). I printed these on address labels, but they didn't end up sticking really well to the coated cardstock, so I used clear packing tape on some to hold it all together.
I used Q-tips inside of the white cardstock lids to make the nail polish brush. You see here I'm using double-sided sticky foam. I added some scraps cardstock over the tip to look like the brush had polish on it.

The message wrapped around the brush says "To confirm your appointment please call: xxx-xxx-xxxx"

There were four colors of card stock that fit with our color scheme, so we used all of them. We hand-delivered most of these in these clear envelopes. Since the personal info was visible, I used opaque envelopes for the ones I mailed.

The girls were really excited about these! Stay tuned for the rest of the party details to be revealed over the next week or two.

The thought did occur to me, that this could make an awesome Mother's Day party, if you ever want to spoil a group of deserving friends or family members. All of the ladies involved in this party said that they wanted a party like this. I know I'd love it if some one threw a spa day for me!
